A split air conditioner consists of an indoor and an outdoor unit connected by refrigerant lines. The installer mounts both units, runs the pipework and condensate drain, vacuums the system and commissions it. Work on the refrigerant circuit is legally reserved for F-gas-certified companies — affiliated installers meet that requirement.

Expect € 1,500 to € 2,500 including installation, depending on the capacity, the brand and the outdoor unit's position. A longer pipe run, a wall bracket or a roof console costs extra installation time.
